Corey and I have discussed this topic many, many times. I honestly don't think I could subject my baby to a circumcision at just a few days old. BUT, I also don't want to have a son who as a teen or adult decides to have this done because we did not do it. I have heard that the statistics are more evenly split in the US now between circumcised and uncircumcised.
But, of course I have to ask the question, is there any push for this procedure due to financial motivation? Of course the doctor, hospital, etc., makes a little extra for performing this, but take it a step further. WHERE do the foreskins go? This is interesting to find out that this is HUGE business. With all my research on cosmetics and ingredients I heard something once about chemical testing and use of foreskin in cosmetics, so I decided to look this up and found some other shocking info!
This is a multimillion-dollar a year industry! Some hospitals in the past have been known to sell discarded foreskins to private bio-research laboratories and pharmaceutical companies. I also learned that foreskin can be used to manufacture insulin.
Check it out! Might make you think twice about it!
